The Story
Farah started in El Paso in 1920 — Mansour Farah, a Lebanese immigrant, sewing chambray work shirts with a handful of seamstresses on San Francisco Street. By 1963 the company was leading the industry into polyester permanent-press slacks, and by 1970 it ran seven factories across Texas and New Mexico, the second-largest employer in El Paso. The “MADE IN U.S.A.” tag and the copper “FARAH PARIS” shank button date this to that domestic-manufacturing peak — before the offshoring that eventually closed the El Paso plants.
