Dark indigo with the rinse still deep in it, barely touched. The 517 is the boot-cut that opens just past the knee to fall clean over a heel, and this one came up from Guatemala on the later Red Tab line — copper rivets, gold contrast stitch, the arcuate riding both back pockets. A workhorse jean that never put in its hours.
The Story
Levi's introduced the 517 as its boot-cut in 1969, an Orange Tab original built to sit over Western boots. This pair is the later Red Tab generation — a 67/33 cotton-poly blend, assembled in Guatemala per the care tag — so it's the modern descendant of that line, not the vintage USA original. Honest about its age, dark as the day it shipped.
