Levi's didn't only make denim in the 70s — they made these. A near-black navy polyester twill cut on the five-pocket jean pattern, with the orange-on-gold tab still riding the back pocket. Permanent press, sharp creases, the fabric heavy enough to hang like it means it. The jean shape without the jean weight.
The Story
Through the polyester boom, Levi's ran a whole permanent-press program parallel to its denim — Sta-Prest and the poly “denim-look” trousers, built on the same five-pocket architecture so they'd read as jeans from across a room and never need an iron. The “100% POLYESTER / MADE IN U.S.A.” tag and the W34 L29 sizing stamp are pure 70s domestic Levi's. The tab on the back pocket is the same mark the denim wore; the fabric underneath is the era's bet on a wrinkle-free future.
