There's a particular blue Pendleton found that doesn't show up much anymore — electric, almost cobalt, run through with thin lines of plum and warm grey until the plaid stops reading as a pattern and starts reading as weather. Pure virgin wool, knife-pleated from a flat-fronted yoke, woven in Portland the way Pendleton wove things when the loom was the whole point. It moves like a skirt that was built to be walked in for thirty years.
