Deadstock. Never worn, never washed — the denim still board-stiff and rigid dark, hangtag and pocket flasher still stapled where the store left them. This is what new looked like before the indigo ever started to crack. Boot cut, regular fit, waiting forty-odd years for legs to fill it out.
The Story
Plain Pockets was JCPenney's own denim — American-made five-pocket jeans sold by the millions from the 1960s into the '80s, the locomotive on the patch promising rolling-stock durability at a working price. Finding a pair that never made it out of the store, tags intact, is the rare part: most got worn into the ground. This one skipped its whole life.
