The real one. Medium indigo with honest whiskering off the hips and a clean fade down the legs — these were worn the way they were built to be. Long in the rise, straight through the leg, the yellow Wrangler tab on the back waistband. A 34 inseam means they were cut tall, for boots.
The Story
13MWZ isn't a random code — it's "13th prototype, Men's Western, Zipper." Rodeo Ben Lichtenstein, a Polish tailor turned cowboy outfitter, took thirteen tries to land it in 1947, then handed pairs to rodeo champions Jim Shoulders and Freckles Brown to put through hell. The back pockets sit high so a rider's wallet stays off the saddle; the rise runs long so the waistband stays put in the stirrups. It's still the official jean of professional rodeo. Few garments carry this much function as provenance.
