Heather blue, the color of a denim that decided to go to the dance instead of to work. Wrangler cut these as flares in a flecked polyester that reads like chambray from a few feet off, hung a Talon zipper in the fly, and stitched their tab onto the back pocket. The leg opens up the way 70s legs were supposed to.
The Story
The brass Talon zipper is the tell — Talon was the dominant American zipper before YKK took the market, and a Talon pull on a pair of pants like this points firmly at the late 60s through 70s. Wrangler, the rodeo brand, ran its own permanent-press poly line through that stretch; the yellow back-pocket tab and the “USE COOL IRON” care tag are the era's fingerprints.
